The ND-3550A reads at speeds of 16x (DVD) and 48x (CD), and is capable of supporting this speed during writes as well. Its speed reaches 16x in the DVD-R and DVD+R formats. It writes DVD+RW at speeds up to 8x, while the maximum speed for DVD-R is 6x. It writes DVD-R DL/DVD+R9 formats at speeds of up to 4x. Add to this its exemplary write performance for CDs at speeds of 48x for CD-R and 24x for CD+R.
